Beautiful hardwood replacement windows in Sheffield

Yorkshire just got a revamp

We were contacted in early 2013 by Mr. and Mrs. Winster regarding replacement windows in Dore, South Yorkshire, an affluent suburb of Sheffield. They were searching for a joinery company to replace their existing draughty and cold single glazed timber windows with sympathetic double glazed alternatives. Having done their research into different timber species, they had decided that the chosen supplier should manufacture solely from Accoya, and being a long-term advocate and certified user of this wood, Gowercroft were an obvious choice.

The property is absolutely jam-packed with character and features, including a number of character windows. Roman top screens, faceted bows and a number of large, partial dormers were all straightforward to our craftsmen and flexible machinery.

“It was important to us that the chosen supplier could maintain the character of the property while also delivering a long-lasting and high quality product. We initially contacted Gowercroft after visiting their website and reading about their experience with Accoya, but when David visited our home we had no doubt about the service and quality they would deliver.”

All of the items were carefully designed and manufactured to give a close resemblance to the existing windows while also delivering considerable improvements in energy performance. They were finished with our 4-coat micro-porous paint system and came complete with our no-quibble, all inclusive 10-year maintenance free guarantee.

When working on the bow windows, our installation teams were careful to preserve the intricate leadwork to the head of the window to avoid increasing the cost of the work to the customer. We were also able to pack the vacant head of the bows with Celotex insulation to further improve the heat retention of the windows.

Further to the work on the outside of the property, we also  supplied and installed replacement internal doors into existing openings. Many of the doors were finished with a paint finish to the room side and a stained finish into the hallway, with either brass or chrome handles to match.
